First New Car

I had a few cars before this, but this is the first one I bought new. A 1972 Mercury Capri. It looked like the one pictured only mine was yellow. I think I bought it at the end of 1971. A few months later I lost my job and sold it. Well, not so much sold it as signed it over to someone willing to take over the payments. I think I made about $76 on the deal.

I finally get more than one comment and they're spam from the same jackass. I don't know why I bother.

Cap'n, don't give up because of some jerk. I remember my first car; it was a VW beetle, 1970 vintage. It lasted 11 years and was the best car I ever owned. Nothing could go wrong with it because the engine was so simple and basic.

I had a '67 VW wagon. I think I got it in '75. I drove it a lot and it lasted about a year.

My first car was a 68 Chrysler Newport. First new vehicle was a Ford pickup which burned up with the house a little over a month after we bought it. Lost $2,000 after insurance.

Oh my god, my sister, may she rest in peace, had a Capri just like this. Lots of memories. My first car was an Opel Kadette. In fact I owned two of them before I got smart and dumped them. Then I had a 63 Chevy Nova for quite a few years. Wish I still had it.
